Artist Statement
Painting is my primary mode of expression, though I frequently incorporate mixed media into my practice. My work navigates realism, abstraction, and eclecticism, drawing from personal photographs, lived experience, and intuition. Early inspiration from my grandfather - whose curiosity and experimentation with materials shaped my creative outlook - continues to influence the way I approach my work.
My practice is rooted in studio exploration, where observation, experimentation, and intuition guide the development of each piece. Through continual reassessment of form, color, and symbolism, my work reflects an ongoing process of growth shaped by lived experience and emotional awareness.
Creating is a meditative act - an opportunity to externalize emotion and transform internal experiences into something tangible. I use saturated color, high contrast, and a balance of stylized and realistic elements to exaggerate symbols, figures, and objects, reflecting how I perceive and process the world. Working through a divergent method of ideation and experimentation, I challenge my own limitations and invite viewers to do the same.
